Veteran Series: Air Force Veteran Forges Path for Equal Opportunity in Military
Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic celebrates Air Force Veteran Bridget Rencher, NIWC Atlantic's director for Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity. Rencher has worked in federal service for 38 years, including 24 years on Active Duty in the Air Force and 14 years as a civilian employee, with 28 years of equal opportunity experience. In 2006, Rencher became the first African-American Female Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force EO career field. Chief Master Sergeants make up the top one percent of senior enlisted personnel in the Air Force. With Rencher’s achieved rank, she was also in the top one percent of females, African Americans and EO personnel in the Air Force. Her accomplishments have had ripple effects for African-American females who have followed behind her in the EO field and Air Force.
