A group of NIWC Atlantic summer interns working in Hampton Roads under the SEAP (Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program) and NREIP (Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program) were treated to a tour of one of the Navy's newest aircraft carriers, USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) at Naval Station Norfolk on July 5.
The mix of high school students (SEAP) and college students/recent graduates (NREIP), as well as two NIWC Atlantic internship program coordinators, enjoyed hearing about and seeing the highlights of the aircraft carrier named after the 41st President of the United States, as presented by one of the members of the ship's public affairs office during the 1.5 hour tour.
The interns are currently working in various labs and office spaces throughout NIWC Atlantic Hampton Roads during their 8-10 week internships, most of which will last through late July or mid August.
