New Orleans detachment Site Security Coordinator Chris Encardes, a former law enforcement officer, not only oversees the local NIWC Atlantic security program – but volunteers as a Reserve police officer in the evenings and on weekends.
Assigned to an intel unit, he investigates crimes including robbery, missing persons and murders. “My first love is being a police officer,” Chris said. “I just love being able to help people – especially those who’ve been victimized.”
Chris was recently promoted to sergeant in the Reserve division and supervises a team of 25 former police officers dedicated to keeping the Big Easy safe during Mardi Gras and beyond.
