The Testing Lifecycle of Electronics Series at NIWC Atlantic: Radio Frequency Test Facility Poseidon Park
240509-N-GB257-1006 N. Charleston, SC (May 9, 2024) The Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic's Radio Frequency Test Facility (RFTF) Poseidon Park is a unique testing facility as it is located outside, which enables testing of antennas installed on military vehicles in a more realistic environment, taking into account the potential impact of external radio frequency (RF) interference and environmental conditions. Bill Warner and Daniel Smith are setting up one of the reference antennas on the composite turntable. The composite turntable is a common tool used in RF testing to measure the radiation pattern of an antenna in two dimensions. After completing 2D antenna pattern measurements on a standalone antenna, the composite turntable is typically used for more detailed testing. (U.S. Navy photo by Joe Bullinger/Released)
