I am pleased to announce the competitive selection of Mr. Michael Bartgis as the NIWC Atlantic Senior Science and Technology Manager (SSTM) for Cyber Capability Development. In this role Mr. Bartgis will lead NIWC Atlantic research, development, test and evaluation of cyber capability development and deployment.

Mr. Bartgis brings a wealth of experience supporting Fleet Cyber Command / Tenth Fleet (FCC/C10F), the Navy Cyber Warfare Development Group (NCWDG), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), Marine Forces Cyber Command (MARFORCYBER) and US Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM). He began his career with SPAWAR Atlantic in 2009 and began support to FCC/C10F in 2011 as a project lead, and then the IPT Lead in 2014. In 2017 he joined FCC/C10F where he served as the senior civilian Future Capabilities Planner responsible for leading complex full spectrum cyber capability development projects. In 2021, he returned to NIWC Atlantic and he served as the NAVWAR Liaison Offer to Fleet Cyber Command / Tenth Fleet and the NIWC Atlantic Navy Cyber IPT lead. In these roles he was responsible for leading projects to provide capability development and engineering services for cyberspace operations. As the LNO, he served as a senior member of the FCC/C10F staff and represented NAVWAR equities.

Mr. Bartgis brings to his new role over 15 years of engineering and cybersecurity experience within the federal government. He is from Roanoke, VA and graduated from Virginia Tech.
