Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic, in collaboration with business partners, donated over $37,000 excess consumable office supplies to Chesapeake, VA public schools in Hampton Roads. This effort freed up considerable room in the Command’s Consumables office and warehouse space within Bldg. Z133 on Naval Station Norfolk and ensured the excess items were put to good use. The Hampton Roads Command Consumables team prepared six skids for pick-up and issued the supplies out of inventory. Hampton Roads STEM Lead Shawn Frazier facilitated the effort by communicating with the Chesapeake Public School District and coordinating the logistics of base access.  He was present at the time of the donation event along with the Commands Consumables team members.  Tracey Gilbert, Warehouse Manager for the school district, worked with the NIWC Atlantic employees to pick up the supplies, which included, but were not limited to, hundreds of envelopes, paper fasteners, pens, pencils, markers, index cards, and binders. NIWC Atlantic has Educational Partnership Agreements with local school districts that makes possible the donation of specific types of goods and services. This is the second time over the last year that NIWC Atlantic has been able to make such a substantial donation to local school districts, the first being to Charleston County schools in South Carolina.
