In honor of National Navajo Code Talkers Day on August 14, Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic software engineer Mathew Daugomah celebrates the legacy of his great-grandfather, Dooley D. Shorty, a Navajo Code Talker who served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Far left: Shorty is honored by Eleanor Roosevelt on January 25, 1941, for his contributions as a teacher of the Navajo language and as a silversmith. Top right: Shorty in 1999.
